Welcome to www.shopluckydog.com, the online home of San Diego’s Original Pet Boutique!
Since August 2002, we’ve been offering unique pet products and gifts for discriminating canines (& those who adore them) in the heart of San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter.
Prior to the store’s grand opening, founders Jenna and Ian Fasack had been living in downtown San Diego for six years and experienced, first-hand, the urban renaissance that had revitalized the neighborhood. They dreamed of a local dog destination for pedestrian-friendly downtown. With her Pug, Sam, as her muse, Jenna left her corporate career behind to pursue her passion for pooches and began to work on shaping what would become ‘Lucky Dog.’ After sourcing the highest quality and uniquely designed dog products, locating a storefront and renovating a space in a historic building in the Gaslamp Quarter, Lucky Dog opened its doors Labor Day weekend 2002.
The original 4th Avenue boutique featured a dog bar with assorted treats for hungry hounds; a dog photo gallery to showcase the four legged frequenters; and of course, the finest selection of couture clothing, beautiful bedding, practical playthings and attractive accessories. In 2004, the store tripled in size by relocating around the corner to its present space at 415 Market Street.
The store’s popularity grew rapidly as downtown dwellers and their dogs discovered this new pooch paradise. Soon enough, neighbors became regulars and out-of-towners had one more reason to come back to San Diego. Lucky Dog wasn’t just a pet store but a place for canine social time and doggy indulgence. A larger store meant more space and more merchandise; while popularity and demand also grew, it was only a matter of time before Lucky Dog needed its own space on the web. And so it was born…….www.shopluckydog.com, your online destination for doggie decadence.
An online marketplace inspired by the urban look and feel that Lucky Dog customers know and love, www.shopluckydog.com launched July 2006 and has since set the pace for e-commerce in the Gaslamp. Retaining the charm and atmosphere of the Market St. boutique, the website features fresh merchandise, up to date news, a fitting room for canine sizing inquiries and an online version of the famous Lucky Dog photo gallery.
In March of 2008 Jenna, Ian and Sam left Lucky Dog to start a new adventure — life in the suburbs. Serendipitously, Rebecca Armendariz was leaving her career in the corporate world to start a new venture that matched her passion for animals. Fate brought Rebecca, a Tonkinese cat named Pookie Elliott and Angel — a Maltese, and survivor of summer 2007’s pet food recall — to Lucky Dog.
Today, Rebecca, Angel, Pookie and Lucky Dog’s same great award-winning staff are keeping things fido friendly in the Gaslamp! Now offering a wider selection of organic, grain free and frozen raw diets, designer collars and leashes, and all new pet accessories, toys and treats — Lucky Dog is better than ever.
You can visit Lucky Dog at 415 Market Street in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, and of course, here at www.shopluckydog.com. Don’t forget to join our mailing list for updates, events and all the latest news.
